An empowering 70-year story on achieving perfection.
The earliest records of construction projects carried out by the Polo family date back to the late eighteen hundreds, led by Marcos Polo in the Segovia province, located in central Spain.
When the time came, Marcos’ son – Aquilino Polo – decided to follow in his father's footsteps by continuing the family tradition. During the subsequent years he planned, directed, and built some of the most emblematic buildings at the time, including numerous quarters for the Guardia Civil and Town Halls.
Aquilino’s sons also joined the business in due time, but the youngest of them had bigger ambitions, and a vision that extended beyond the province that had been his family’s home for centuries.
In 1951, Julian Polo moved to the city of Valladolid, and founded GrupoPolo.
In the city of Valladolid, GrupoPolo began the construction of several industrial warehouses, employing vanguardist construction techniques which allowed for the creation of large indoor areas without the use of excessive and bothersome pillars.
Julian Polo then established the Provasa Partnership, building dozens of high-standard apartment buildings in the centre of Valladolid, and providing work spaces for prestigious companies such as the Planeta Publishers, Mutua Montañesa, or Thyssen Boetticher.
Believe it or not, an outdated map during a summer vacation in 1978 led to the Polo Family discovering Marbella - taking a ‘wrong’ turn had never been so right. The enchanting landscapes, climate and culture made the idea of developing luxury villas extremely attractive.
By 1983, GrupoPolo had begun the construction of its first Villas in Marbella, where it has remained until the present day, accumulating 40 years of experience in this unique industry.
The company is led by Sofia Polo.
Sofia Polo is a Technical Architect, graduated from the University of Seville. She is a specialist in Pathology of Edification, and holds the AD-1 Masters in Business Administration from the San Telmo International Institute.
